How to watch the world's best

Some of the best golfers in the world will converge on the Island's most prestigious course for the premier event on the Bermuda golfing calender.

The Gillette Tour Challenge Championship tees off Tuesday at 8 a.m. at the Mid Ocean Club in Tucker's Town.

This year, viewing the golfing -- and social -- event of the year will be free to the general public.

But if golf is not your game, and you'd hate to miss out on one of the premier events on the fall social calender, perhaps investing in a VIP ticket should be your course of action.

For $100, VIP ticket holders will enjoy preferred parking and viewing on the course, breakfast at the pre-championship reception, admission to the post championship reception and three complimentary refreshment stands on the course (holes 7,11 and 16).

Those who are interested in nabbing a VIP ticket, but left things to the last minute, should give Mid Ocean a call to see if they have any of the coveted passes left.

If $100 is a little steep for your pocketbook, you need not worry about being excluded from watching all the fun.

Officials say that the general public will be able to roam the course and take in all of the sights and sounds of the championship as they have done so in previous years.

Satellite parking for the general public will be at one of three locations: The Harris' Bay Field (Cleveland County's cricket field; The Smith's Parish Community Field on Somersall Road; and The soccer field at the Works and Engineering Quarry in Hamilton Parish.
