Island cats are just purr-fect
felines at the annual cat show yesterday.
Event organiser Morag Smith said the event went very well and numbers were up on previous years.
"Numbers are going up a little bit each time,'' she said.
"We were very, very privileged to have the President of Cat Fanciers Association judge the event.'' Association president Donald Williams inspected the 61 entries with fellow judges, wife, Leta, and Hillery Helmrich.
Felines were shown in four categories: Pedigree kitten, Pedigree Championship, Pedigree Premiership, and Household.
Premiership is a showing of spade and neutered cats, while Kitten category is for four to eight month old cats.
Winners for each category were: Best Kitten - a Seal Point Birman breed belonging to Jil Gray.
Best Championship (Overseas) - a Singabura breed belonging to Mary McCormick.
Best Championship (Local) - a Red Abyssinian belonging to Morag Smith.
Premiership - a Singabura breed belonging to Marilyn Martin.
Best Household -- `Jacob Bunny', a white neuter belonging to Marilyn Martin.
