Kim Young honoured
her hard work.
Kim Young was presented with The Women's Advisory Council's Crystal Award at a luncheon at Camden last week.
The award recognises an organisation or an individual who has demonstrated awareness of the importance of women in the community, in the home or in the workplace.
The winner also had to have, in some way, enhanced or promoted the quality of life for women in Bermuda.
The public was invited to submit nominations and the recipient was selected by an award panel.
Mrs. Young, an entrepreneur and a mother of three, was presented with the fourth annual Crystal Award by Premier David Saul.
Chairperson of the Women's Advisory Council Angela Berry listed for the audience Mrs. Young's numerous accomplishments, including being the chairperson of the Task Force on Women's Issues and a recipient of the 1994 Queen's Certificate.
Minister of Legislative Affairs and Women's Issues Lynda Milligan-Whyte said Mrs. Young was a "crystal'' example of someone who was committed to women's issues.
"We need more people like you in Bermuda,'' she added.
In accepting the award, Mrs. Young said she was proud to receive it and pointed out that the award was not just for women, but "an award for people who do things for women''.
