Suzette Harvey, founder of the United Productions' group, will take 16 women back to her Alma Mater, The University of the Arts, for a two-week intensive programme called "Summer World of Dance''.

Miss Harvey said: "I am trying to keep them exposed and current. I want them dancing with people from around the world, so they won't get too comfortable.'' She will be a visiting teacher in the programme leading a hip-hop class.

And she has made plans for her group of dancers to work together with other choreographers and to see a few Broadway shows while they are there.

Other United Productions dance teachers are looking forward to receiving some instruction themselves.

Dance instructor Koshea Scott said: "When you're teaching you're not dancing I am looking forward to being the dancer again.

"The level of professionalism gives us something to strive for.'' Zalika Millett, 21, who is studying dance education at Temple University and attended the programme last year, said: "It is a great programme. It really pushed us and showed us we have got to be competitive in order to be seen and get noticed.'' Modern dancer Maleka Goater, who is going to the programme for her first time, said: "I can't wait to go. My clothes are already laid out on my bed!''
