a showcase of student talents. Tonight and tomorrow's concerts will be Shine Hayward's swan song as Warwick Academy's musical director. After five years with the school, the popular teacher and musician is leaving to spend time working on a new CD and possibly pursue an advanced degree. "The teaching experience has had its rewards,'' said Mr. Hayward. "As a conductor/director it was a welcome challenge for me. I found I was learning a lot from the students. I'll miss the kids,'' he added. "...even though they brought lots of challenges, it was rewarding to see them grow and mature.'' Mr. Hayward will lead the Junior Band, the Concert Band and the Full Orchestra for their last performance together. Music teacher, Chris Darrell, will conduct the Junior String and String Orchestra for the show. The Spring Concert, which will feature a varied programme ranging from popular to classical music, will also showcase Warwick Academy's organ scholars performing on the school's pipe organ and teacher Andrew Dobson as a guest vocalist. And the band Mahogany, consisting of second and third year students, will fill the school's Phoebe Purvis Memorial Hall with lively jazz and reggae. The members of the band (Mandela Fubler, Warren Simmons, Ryan Swan, Aaron Edness, Russell Butler, Justin Simmons and Zikomo Simmons) will be a featured performer at an upcoming tourism convention in Milwaukee, Minnesota.
