The 42-year-old man, who was complaining of stomach problems, was taken aboard the pilot boat St. David at Five Fathom Hole at noon yesterday, a Harbour Radio spokesman said.
The 33,000-ton Liberian-registered bulk carrier Samson had diverted to Bermuda on her way to Louisiana from Ireland.
The 740-foot ship was in ballast.
The crewman's sickness was not believed to be life-threatening. "He was able to climb down the ladder himself,'' and an ambulance was not needed to take him to hospital once he reached shore, the spokesman said.
