Students go to US musical convention
their musical talents at a convention in Syracuse, New York last week.
The Lions and Lioness Clubs of Bermuda, together with the Lions of New York State, have sponsored the students.
They were picked out of a total of eight students from high schools around the island.
The event which was expected to host 2,500 people ended yesterday.
Mr. Joe Ferreira of Paget Lions Club said the students would be kept busy practising and performing from the time they arrived.
"This convention provides the young people with an opportunity to play with other students from abroad as well as enhance them culturally,'' he said.
The students were playing under the direction of band leader Mr. Richard Herfort of New York.
Chioke Lodge and Rochee Brown both play the clarinet while Andre Esdaille plays the cornet and Ben Davies plays the oboe.
