The Docksiders Pub and Restaurant recently held a gala black tie evening to celebrate the grand opening of its new entertainment facilities.

The owners commented: "We have been working very hard to make this establishment the premier dining and entertainment venue in Bermuda. We would like to thank all the patrons and businesses who have helped us to make that a reality.'' A large gathering attended the opening and enjoyed music headed by local musician Howard Rego. The band had the place moving to the sounds of intimate jazz with drinks and fine food flowing freely through the night and into the wee hours.

The new chefs, Kai Hartman and Gerry Sullivan, prepare a range of delicious food for every taste, from a traditional beef pie to grilled Bermuda wahoo.

The Docksider has come a long way (not geographically) from its original location next door at 123 Front Street - next to the Supermart.

After opening in 1987, it has since added the experienced current management and has grown into the watering hole of choice for patrons who enjoy good food, good drink and good company.

During 1998, they expanded into their current premises in an effort to allow more Bermudians and visitors alike, to enjoy the charms of a truly Bermudian experience.

The Docksider is sure to entice even more people with the opening of its new Back Bar. The new room has a state of the art sound system and the best musical equipment available for superior live entertainment.

There is a dance floor for the energetic, comfortable sofas and intimate booths for those who enjoy relaxing with their friends.

For the smoke weary, don't worry! The owners have made a substantial investment in a sophisticated extraction system.

Another attraction is the imminent addition of the Internet for those who don't want to stay off line. There will be several stations available for those who enjoy a relaxed atmosphere while having the ability to make global connections.
