Actor's shaving grace to benefit local charity
budding thespian will perform a hair-raising deed for the love of his craft.
And in the process of cutting loose, `Old Mother Hubbard' will also raise finds for charity.
Appleby, Spurling & Kempe lawyer and Bermuda Musical and Dramatic Society actor Kelvin Hastings-Smith will shave his moustache before a lunchtime crowd on the steps of City Hall.
Mr. Hastings-Smith, who will play `Old Mother Hubbard' in the BMDS' upcoming pantomime, decided to chop off his ginger-coloured moustache after he discovered he had a slight problem getting into his `Old Mother Hubbard' character.
Since most grand dames in the theatrical world do not sport moustaches, Mr.
Hastings-Smith reluctantly agreed to cut off the whiskers he has worn since he was a 17-year-old.
The 1.15 p.m. event will feature Corporation of Hamilton secretary Roger Sherratt and the Town Crier presenting a proclamation before barber Jason Hope performs the honours.
Funds raised from the sponsored shave will go to the Bermuda Diabetes Association's Health for success programme.
