The American Ladies in Bermuda Charity and Social Club will holds its annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Remembrance Walk on January 16.

The one-mile walk starts from Stonehole Bay on South Shore Road in Warwick at 2 p.m. with sign-in set for 1.30 p.m.

The public is invited to participate with the proceeds from pledges going to a Bermuda College student entering the school in September, 2000.

A friend of the owner discovered the Harbour Road home had been broken into on Sunday night and reported the incident to Police.

When officers arrived at the home they found signs of forcible entry and that several rooms had been searched along with several bedroom drawers.

Police were unsure as to when the break-in actually happened and if anything was missing from the home.

A spokesman said Police were waiting for the resident to return to the Island to help them with their investigations.

SPORTS BAG AND CONTENTS GO MISSING CRM Sports bag and contents go missing A night out in Hamilton at a Front Street bar proved costly for a man whose sports bag was stolen.

Shortly before midnight on Friday the man discovered his bag, which contained clothing and personal financial papers and was left near the entrance to the establishment, was missing.

However, the bag was not reported missing until Sunday. Police officers are investigating the incident.

James Smith was formerly Assistant Cabinet Secretary, but left recently to work at Warwick Academy as a history teacher.

Mr. Smith had reached 60 and said he had assessed his priorities and decided to make the move.

He had been at the Cabinet since 1996, after moving from the House of Assembly, where he was clerk. He had spent six and a half years at Parliament.

FIRE CAUSES $800 IN DAMAGE FIR Fire causes $800 in damage Fire caused $800 in damages to a Hermitage Road home before the owner was able to extinguish the flames using water from a garden hose.

No one was injured in the Sunday blaze but a television, lamp, and dresser were damaged as were the floor and ceiling of the premises.

The fire started in the bedroom and is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
