Bermuda Red Cross director Ann Spencer-Arscott said: "Thanks to the prompt and generous response of the public and Bermuda Government, the appeal for the refugees in Kosovo has reached an all time high of just over $171,000.'' "As funds are no longer coming in,'' she continued, "we feel it is necessary to close our accounts and have the money sent to help the victims.
"All accounts will close on October 29.'' Meanwhile, a second appeal for victims of earthquakes in Turkey recently remains open and stands at approximately $22,500.
This account will remain open until the end of next month.
"Again, the Bermuda Red Cross cannot thank the people enough for their generosity in helping those in need,'' Mrs. Spencer-Arscott.
