Bermuda Festival appeals for volunteers

The Bermuda Festival has issued an urgent appeal for volunteers to man its box office and also answer the telephone in the main office from now until until the Festival ends on February 26. Both offices are located in the Visitors Service Bureau building on Front Street.

"The Festival is extremely grateful to all of its volunteer assistants, but we just don't have enough to help with the Festival team,'' General Manager Toni Davis said. "We rely totally on volunteers for everything.'' Noting that "box office personnel are an extremely important part of the Festival's success'', Mrs. Davis said: "we simply do not have enough people to run it at the moment.'' Box office hours are 9.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and volunteers can choose to work either a full shift; from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon, or from 12 noon to 2 p.m. on the day or days of their choice.

"The work is not difficult because we have simplified the ticket system, and training will be given,'' Mrs. Davis assured.

With regard to answering the telephone in the main office, the General Manager said help was required at the busiest time of the day: between 9.30 a.m. and 12 noon Monday to Friday, and a polite, friendly manner was important.

Volunteers wishing to join the Bermuda Festival team should either fax Mrs.

Davis at 295-7403, e-mail her at bdafest yibl.bm, or leave a voice mail message at 295-1291.
