Bermuda Turtle Project underway
being educated on the conservation of marine turtles.
The Bermuda Turtle Project (BTP) is led by Dr. Peter and Dr. Anne Meylan, scientific directors for BTP.
Co-ordinator Jennifer Gray said the course promotes the conservation of marine turtles through education and research.
She said: "What we're doing is developing a stronger, more experienced network of people to protect our sea turtles when they leave Bermuda's waters for the Caribbean.
"Thanks to sponsors such as Chevron International and Oleander, we're able to offer an excellent course and share knowledge and expertise.'' The course has shown some results. Since its start in 1960, more than 100 volunteers have participated each year, and their tagged turtles have been recovered in Nicaragua, Panama, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Grenada and St.
Lucia.
