environment.
Question: What have been your biggest achievements this year with KBB? Answer: "It is very difficult to single out one achievement, but the top five will have to be: a) helping to rebuild the image of KBB.
b)forging closer working relationships with other NGOs and governmental departments and corporate partners.
c) getting KBB by extension to Bermuda into the Centre for Marine Conservation Good Mate Pilot programme.
"The grant given to this programme is $25,000 which was made possible by Royal Caribbean Cruise lines.

e) Being able to attract substantial increase in our funding.'' Question: What plans do you have for the future of KBB? Answer: "To continue to engineer growth and solidify KBB position as an environmental organisation.'' Who are the current board members? Answer: "Tammy Richardson, Jane Brett, Madeline Daisley, Bill Pollett, Janette Musson and myself.'' Question: Please describe your role as director. What is it that you do? Answer: "My role is very diverse. I am charged with the day to day affairs of KBB, fund raising, project management, attracting new sponsors, implementing programmes that were approved by the board, taking complaints from the public and helping to find solutions.'' Question: "What is the biggest challenge at KBB? Answer: "Getting Bermuda's residents to stop littering and getting more people to give their time to help make Bermuda a Litter Free Zone.'' Question: What aspects of your work do you enjoy the most? Answer: "Meeting people from all walks of life, knowing that there are people who are genuine in their concerns for our environment.
"Representing KBB at different levels and knowing that I am making a difference. Representing KBB and Bermuda at an international level. Helping KBB to gain international recognition and funding.'' Question: What does your KBB wish list consist of? Answer: "A comprehensive educational programme that will be part of our school curriculum. More funding. A waiting list to get on the KBB Board. Our own home. A vibrant Youth Arm. A more serious commitment by Government to lead the way in promoting the 3R's. Mandatory waste separation and recycling programme.
Every company, school and government department and multi unit complex should have a waste management plan in place.'' Question: What's the real story with Bermuda's environment? Are we doing the best we can do to keep our Island clean? Answer: "Thanks to a lot of people who have been working to protect our environment (long before me) I think it is in pretty good shape for the moment, but as our population grows if we do don't look at new measures we are going to be in trouble.
"A lot of people take the environment for granted. An individual act may seem like no big deal but collectively it can be devastating.'' Question: What can the average citizen do to help KBB? Answer: "Each person needs to take responsibility for his/her actions. There are a lot of people who care about the environment but I don't think people care enough.
"On September 16 over 750 people gave up their Saturday morning to help clean up the litter that was left by others. They picked up over 12.5 tons of trash.
Do you think that these individuals who left this trash behind were responsible or did they take the time to look at the accumulative impact? I doubt it.'' Question: What's the best advice you have received? Answer: "Never let yourself be limited by what others think of you, Be strong in your convictions and do not purposely infringe on the rights of others.
"Never feel that you are too big to say you are sorry when you are in the wrong.'' AT the KBB office: Lennox Boodram, executive director of Keep Bermuda Beautiful located off of Front Street, Hamilton on Bermuda House Lane, directly behind Tuscany Restaurant.
