Union will be celebrating its 15th annual Labour Day.

Events begin on Saturday with the BIU Annual Labour Day banquet. The keynote speaker for the banquet is Bishop Vinton Anderson, Presiding Bishop of the Fifth Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

Bishop Anderson is the president of the World Council of Churches which has a membership of over 560 million people representing 322 denominations. He is a dynamic speaker and we expect a large audience to be in attendance.

The banquet will take place at 7.30 p.m. Tickets are $40 each and are available from the BIU Headquarters and from members.

On Sunday September 1 Bishop Anderson will give the sermon at the 11 a.m.

service at St. Paul's AME Church. Guests and members may wish to arrive at the church early to ensure themselves seating.

Culminating the weekend will be the Labour Day march and festivities on Monday, September 2.

Events for Labour Day begin at 8.45 a.m. with the Walking Club's walk at 8.45 a.m., followed by the Co-Op Sponsored Road Race at 9 a.m.

At 9.30 a.m. members and guests are asked to congregate at BIU Headquarters at 9.30 a.m. where there will be singing by the St. Paul AME Senior Choir and a performance by the Warwick Majorettes.

The march to Bernard Park, led by the Bermuda Regiment Band, the Rockettes and gombeys, will begin at 11.30 a.m.

At the park there will be speeches, entertainment and food stalls. Admission is free.
