Bill's last school concert
his last school concert tomorrow evening.
After 24 years of service -- and more than 30 concerts -- he will retire at the end of the school year.
Since his arrival in Bermuda in 1973, Mr. Duncan has made music an important part of the curriculum at Saltus, with many students going on to pursue careers as professional musicians and teachers.
Tomorrow's concert will include music by the Saltus School Band and the Orchestra.
The band will play a varied selection, including Handel's Fireworks Suite, Grieg's Norwegian Dances, Alexander's Rag-Time Band, Jesus Christ Superstar and some light jazz pieces.
The orchestra will play a movement from Corelli's Concerto Grosso, Offenbach's Can-Can and Memories from Cats.
Soloist Jason Leman will perform two movements from Handel's Flute Sonata, and the Furness Line, a small brass ensemble, comprising members of fellow teacher Alan Furness's family, will play a selection of 17th century music.
The Concert of Instrumental Music will take place tomorrow in the Senior School Auditorium at 7.30 p.m. Tickets, available at the door, are $7.
Mr. Bill Duncan.
