BJSL seeks funds recipients
$50,000 to donate to worthwhile causes in the community.
The charity has raised more than $30,000 from the sale of its Christmas cards this year, $10,000 from its open house, and more than $1,000 from a private shopping night at Archie Brown and Marks and Spencer.
The private shopping night on December 9 -- which began with a brief meeting to update members and friends of the BJSL's successes over the holiday period to date -- included special demonstrations and tastings, special offers and discounts.
Archie Brown and Marks and Spencer general manager Bruce Robinson also gave ten percent of gross sales to the BJSL to donate.
Registered charities and non-profit groups should submit written requests to the Finance Chairman, BJSL PO Box 1226 Hamilton HM BX as soon as possible.
The League -- which will also welcome new members and any woman between 18 to 44 -- noted that it will take some three months to process the requests.
For further details contact Dr. Kathy Suter on 238-1523 regarding the cards; Maria McCleod Smith on 295-2021 about the open house; and BJSL president Karen Stout on 295-5618 about donations and membership.
