Bluck's wins window display competition
Worldwide Chase Window Display competition, beating out 2,000 entries.
General manager Peter David Darling conceded yesterday, "First prize was quite a shock but since 1844, Bluck's has always been the first to bring Bermuda the latest china patterns.'' The window display was Mr. Darling's personal inspiration in July, when he envisioned what Bluck's described as "a simple, uncluttered, but alive presentation of Bluck's latest Chase china pattern, Butterfly Bamboo'' in his store's window.
The pattern features a butterfly motif in a formal presentation against a yellow background with French blue ribbons.
Mrs. Hella Wooller brought an understated approach in design assistance that Mr. Darling felt captured the mood perfectly.
Bluck's then commissioned top photographer Ann Spurling to photograph the window.
