BNG presents a little mystery
presentation (September 1) at the Bermuda National Gallery (BNG) when `I Spy' author Geoffrey Elliott provides an intriguing insight into the world of espionage and beyond.
His translation of `The Secret Life of Kim Philby -- the Moscow Years', focuses on the British double agent's life from the time of his defection to Russia in 1963 until his death in 1988.
Philby, whose infiltration of the highest echelons of British intelligence went undetected for decades, fled to Moscow when his cover was about to be blown.
Mr. Elliott's book includes intimate personal details of Philby's fourth wife, additional unpublished material by the master spy himself, plus research and commentary by US intelligence specialist Hayden Peake and KGB veteran Mikhail Lyubimov.
The author's presentation will begin at 12.30 p.m., and further information is available from Mrs. Peggy Kett at 295-9428.
In addition, signed copies of Mr. Elliott's book will be available at a special price of $24.95, with all proceeds going to the Bermuda National Gallery.
Mr. Elliott is a member of the BNG board, and a part-time Bermuda resident.
