Catering to business travellers
traveller with a number of upgrades and multi-million pound refurbishment.
The London Hilton on Park Lane is typical of the UK capital's hotels in that it caters to more business travellers than leisure travellers.
Hilton public relations director Diana Moxon said: "We do a lot of business conventions and meetings. A lot of very big groups come here because of our facilities and location.
"We have a prestigious address here on Park Lane and we have Hyde Park, Knightsbridge, Oxford Street and Regent Street very close by.'' But location will not draw the business traveller alone, she admitted.
"You have to have business facilities, dedicated meeting facilities and a business centre.
"You also have to be flexible to meet business travellers who need you to be able to quickly respond to their needs and be efficient. They also need a degree of comfort.'' One of the London Hilton's more novel additions to the high quality of service it provides is the introduction of Powerdesks in some of its rooms.
This integration of a computer and desk saves business travellers from carrying a lap top and allows them to work in their rooms instead of in a standard hotel business centre.
The Hilton still offers a business centre -- Meeting 2000 -- which, in keeping with the rest of the five star hotel's facilities, is award-winning.
This collection of meeting rooms are flexible to allow for small business functions or large business dinners.
There is even a working boardroom available along with secretarial support and a computer room.
