Choice concerts
perform the Princess Diana tribute song "Candle in the Wind''.
The song will be performed on both Friday and Sunday at the eighth annual President's Choice Pops Concerts in St. George's and Dockyard, respectively.
And two young Bermudians will join two guest artists as soloists in the free open air concerts conducted by Graham Garton.
On Friday, the venue will be in the Town Square in St. George's beginning at 7.30 p.m. Sunday's performance will be held at the Clocktower Mall at the Royal Naval Dockyard, beginning at 5 p.m.
Juilliard School of Music student and clarinettist Mark Lomas will be the featured soloist on Maria Von Weber's "Concertino in E flat''.
Berkeley Institute student and soprano Vernelda Perinchief will solo in "Poor Wand'ring One'' from Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan.
World class soloists violinist Diane Hamilton and flautist Nancy Smith will also perform.
Ms Hamilton will be featured in Massenet's "Meditation from Thais'' and Ms Smith will solo on J.S. Bach's "Badinerie and Tabourin''.
In addition to Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin's "Candle in the Wind'', the concert includes Beethoven's "Egmont Overture'', the spiritual "De Battle ob Jericho'' and Verdi's "Anvil chorus''.
Lt. Col. Brendan Hollis will be the master of ceremonies.
The performances are made possible through sponsorship by The MarketPlace and President's Choice, Bermuda Electric Light Company, and Butterfield and Vallis.
TeleBermuda, Bermuda General Agency, and Bermuda Arts Council are also sponsoring the concerts.
President's Choice will provide free ice cream and soda to concert-goers.
Due to the reduced Sunday schedule for public transportation, the Philharmonic has organised extra buses and an extra ferry ride back to Hamilton from Dockyard.
