Jarizhino (Jah) Simmons is a 22-year-old Bermudian studying electrical engineering at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia.

His upcoming comedy show, called "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow -- Correct Me If I'm Wrong'' will be hosted by Nadanja Bailey and will be playing at City Hall this Thursday and Friday.

Mr. Simmons said the evening will be "chock-full of entertainment'' and will also feature special guest singers Kion Simmons, Sia Spence, Ithiops, Ti, and Diamonds in the Ruff, as well as the United Dance Productions. Part proceeds will go to PALS.

Using his sense of humour to entertain others is not a new hobby for Mr.

Simmons.

Although he started performing onstage with Gina Spence Productions in Christ as a youngster, he's branched out on his own for the past three years and produced comedic shows "One of Da Fam-lee'' and "Da Talkshow''.

"Someone who enjoyed me in Gina Spence's productions encouraged me to do my own thing, so I started writing (my first show) at 17-years-old,'' he said.

"(Comedian) Bootsie gave me a tape and he was the one who helped me get into doing one-man shows.

"I was kinda shocked at how smoothly it went -- once you have a concept of how you want it to begin and end, it's just a matter of filling in the middle.'' Unlike the other two productions where Mr. Simmons played the role of different characters, "Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow'' is stand-up comedy based on Mr. Simmons' childhood experiences growing up in Bermuda.

"People ask me why I'm not studying drama -- but I tell them it's not a sure thing and I need to eat,'' said Mr. Simmons.

"I would love to do acting as a career, but I'll let it fall into my lap if it does,'' he added.

The show starts at 8 p.m. at City Hall. Tickets are $20, patron tickets are $30. Tickets are available at Spence Hair Design and 27th Century Boutique.
