Comic pair prove to be no fools at delivering laughs
Rising comedians Nadanja Bailey and Jarizhino Simmons are back by popular demand for a two-night pre-Christmas performance at City Hall this week.
But if the popularity of their show in the summer is anything to go by, it would be advisable to purchase tickets in advance for "Two Fools'' which is scheduled for Thursday and Friday nights at 8.00 sharp.
The overwhelming response to their last show forced the young entertainers, Bailey 24, and Simmons 23, to add a third night as every seat in City Hall was taken.
"The tickets started moving when we announced that there weren't any more tickets for the Thursday,'' said Simmons of the August show. "The phone lines went crazy.
"Some people came for all three nights and acted like they hadn't seen the show. It was sheer luck that we got the third night in succession. It had to go well, we put a lot of time in. We didn't get any rest before the show.'' Much the same is expected this time with the 378-seat auditorium expected to be full each night.
The show will contain some skits from the previous show as well as some new material. Rikkai Scott, Denniqua Burrows, Nishanthi Bailey and Drop Top will make cameo appearances while entertainment will also be provided by Nhoj-Trebor Steede, Live Wire, Lady Tyson, Shine Hayward and 2 Classified.
"Everyone except Rikkai was in the last show as far as the actors,'' said Mr.
Bailey who noted that 2 Classified will also be returning.
"The actors will have significant parts and everybody has a laugh line, they're not just there to take up space.'' The timing of the show will allow college students to see it, though the two admit they seem to cater to an older audience.
"It's a family oriented show and if you are capable of a laugh then this show is for you,'' said Bailey, 24, himself a college student.
Added Simmons: "We cater to all ages but, surprisingly, most of our audience is older. A lot of my friends my age have never seen any of my show. I would like for my peers to see what I'm doing, but older people seem to appreciate it a little more.'' Said Bailey: "Older people appreciate that while we are still young we are doing positive things. We don't have time to sit on the wall and even if we could I don't think we would.'' The show is under the distinguished patronage of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hodgson.
Patron tickets are $30 and regular tickets $20. Doors open at 7.15 p.m.
Part proceeds from the show will go to the Child's Wish Charity.
