Adolph Luttke, general manager of Corange Ltd., and a Bermuda College board member, was recently presented with the NCRD's Benefactor's Award at the Hyatt Regency in Washington, D.C.

It was the first time that the college had put forward a nomination for the Benefactor's Award which is aimed at philanthropists and investors who demonstrate a history of involvement in higher education.

Corange was selected from hundreds of nominees coming from all over the US and Canada.

It is the Bermuda-based parent of the Boehringer Mannheim and DePuy group of companies and it has a model business and education partnership with the Bermuda College.

The company, which is in the process of being taken over by Siwzz pharmaceuticals giant Roche, gave the College a gift of $1 million to be used to improve science education four years ago.

Corange has also been honoured for its contribution to education with companies such as General Motors Corp., Chrysler Canada Ltd. and Toyota.
