Customer comfort
even for the decor.
Everything about the St. George building is geared towards the customer's comfort.
Walk in through the doors and you immediately have a wonderful sense of colour and space.
For this owner Mr. Fosco Nannini pays tribute to his wife, Sharon.
"She chose all the colours,'' he says with pride.
Green, blue, pink and red are everywhere you look.
The green of plants. Blue wooden chairs. Pink walls. And paintings framed in red.
Even the curtains have the same colours.
The foyer where you wait to place your order is roomy and cooled by whirring fans.
It seems everything is designed to ease the tension of waiting in a queue.
There is even soft music throughout the day. Many people, of course, like to rush in for a take-out order.
Others, however, prefer to spend more time in the restaurant, sampling the excellent cuisine at one of the tables.
Downstairs two tables are laid out. And diners have the added advantage of the restrooms just a few yards away.
Of course, the sparkling clean kitchen, fronted by a showcase of mouth-watering pasta dishes and salads, is at ground level as well.
And there is also a drinks machine and ice cream selector.
The festive season hasn't been forgotten, either.
There are several gold-coloured wreathes on the walls, painstakingly crafted in the shape of different pastas.
Upstairs is a plush dining area which can seat as many as 50 people.
"It is basically self-serve, although we do have a dumb waiter,'' says hostess Miss Christa DeSilva.
"This enables people to have their food sent upstairs to them with the minimum of effort.'' The room is cool and airy, with a high ceiling fixed with fans.
There are several exotic plants, and red-framed paintings of dishes are displayed on the walls.
Staff put a premium on cleanliness.
This is instantly apparent as the room -- equipped with plenty of bins -- is spotless.
Unsurprisingly, smoking is a big "no no'' throughout the building.
"No smoke area'' signs are displayed prominently. So those who like a puff should stub out before entering.
