Homesick Griffiths waits for new heart
in Baltimore waiting for a new heart -- and he is starting to feel homesick.
Mr. Griffiths has suffered a series of heart attacks and doctors have told him a transplant is necessary.
However the waiting list is between eight and 12 months -- and in the meantime he must live within a few hours from a heart transplant centre.
Now according to his wife, Dee, Mr. Griffiths is starting to feel homesick living in an apartment block three hours drive from Johns Hopkins University Hospital.
Mrs. Griffiths said: "We got up to Johns Hopkins on November 8 last year and he was approved for a heart transplant on November 27.
"The average wait is between eight and 12 months, although he could still be at the bottom of the list and have an operation sooner if there is an exact match.
"He's living in an apartment block about three hours from the hospital and is starting to feel very homesick.'' She added that her husband had received many letters and cards wishing him well and was trying to write back to everyone.
Mrs. Griffiths also said her husband could be contacted at Broadview Apartments Number 804, 105 W. 39th Street, Baltimore, Maryland 21210, USA.
His telephone number is 410-243-1216, ext. 1804.
