Island scholars honoured
education from the Bank of Butterfield.
Lisa Green received the postgraduate Sir A. Dudley Spurling scholarship while Damian Cooper received the Sir Harry D. Butterfield undergraduate scholarship.
Miss Green currently attends George Washington University in Washington D.C.
where she is studying toward a doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
Mr. Cooper will begin his studies toward a bachelor's degree in Economics and Finance at Bristol University in England this September.
Both of the scholarships are valued at $15,000 per year for up to four years.
The bank annually awards the scholarship to students who show outstanding academic achievement.
In addition to the scholarships, the Bank of Butterfield also awarded ten interest free loans to students based on financial need and academic merit.
This year's recipients include Jeannine Jones, Lemar Trott, Andrea Powell, Nesalene Rewan, Tashae Thompson, Kijana Robinson, Sashema Robinson, Kammy Smith, McKeisa Smith and Marissa Wainwright.
No worries: Sir Harry D. Butterfield scholarship winner Damian Cooper receives a cheque from Bank of Butterfield Customer and Staff Relations vice president Janet Nearon and bank Board of Governors director Sheila Manderson.
