Kids get special concert
mini-concert performed by American educator John Kinderman Taylor.
The mini-concert, which will begin at 1.15 p.m. at Marriott's Castle Harbour Resort, is part of a two-day workshop by the Education Ministry on how music and movement can help enhance the learning experience.
Fifty two teachers from 12 Government preschools attended the first day of the workshop yesterday.
And today about 15 to 20 teachers from private preschools and nurseries were also expected to participate.
Mr. Taylor is the developer on KinderCise -- a learning through movement programme -- which stimulates the minds and bodies of children ages three to 12 and motivates them to love learning.
KinderCise curricula have been established in schools, day care centres, headstart programmes, and children's organisations across the United States.
Mr. Taylor has taught at the John F. Kennedy Centre for the Performing Arts and the Wolf Trap Institute for Early Learning Through The Performing Arts and has made special appearances in fairs and festivals worldwide.
He also has received many top instructor and artist awards for his work.
Mr. Taylor is working on a pilot programme which, if accepted, would be shown on one of the major networks in keeping with US President Bill Clinton's recent demand for an increase in the level of quality broadcasting for children.
