Coretta Scott-King will be on the Island to promote the Sara Lee Corporation's annual Frontrunner Awards which honour women who excel in the arts, business, government and the humanities.

Mrs. King, aged 70, received the award last year in the humanities category for her lifelong achievements.

Scheduled to arrive on the Island on May 29, Mrs. King, Sara Lee Corporation representative Elynor Williams and her assistant will be the guests of US Consul General Robert Farmer at Chelston.

Mr. Farmer will host a private dinner at his official residence in honour of Mrs. King on May 30.

And a symposium on women's issues, featuring both Mrs. King and Mrs. Williams as guest speakers, has been scheduled for May 31 at Southampton Princess.

The meeting will be moderated by local race relations activist Dr. Eva Hodgson.

Mrs. King's visit, which is being organised by Akinstall International, coincides with a photographic exhibition on Dr. King's life at the National Gallery.

The exhibition, entitled "King Remembered: Martin Luther King and the Civil Rights Movement'', features American photographer Flip Schulke's powerful images of Dr. King's struggle and perseverance.

The exhibition will run from April 26 to June 20.

Valirie Akinstall, founder of Akinstall International, told The Royal Gazette she also hoped to schedule a public event at City Hall featuring Mrs. King.

Tickets for the May 31 symposium will be $100 per person and on sale from April 14. For further information call 295-9995.
