she makes a special appearance on the "Oprah Winfrey Show'' next week.

"I'm terrified by the thought of this,'' she confessed during a brief visit home over the weekend, "but if it helps just one person, then I figured it was worth doing.'' Mrs. Moyers said the Oprah show would be recorded before a live audience on March 23 and would be aired sometime during that week.

Together with her husband William, son of famed TV journalist Bill Moyers, and now the director of public policy at Hazelden, a leading recovery centre for the chemically dependent based in Minnesota, they will be promoting a new, five-part series on the science, treatment and politics of addiction. Produced by Bill and Judith Moyers, the series is entitled "Moyers on Addiction: Close To Home'', and the first part airs on PBS on March 29.

Appearances by father and son will also be made on CNN's "Larry King Live'' on Saturday, March 28 and NBC's "Today'' show on Friday, March 27. Both appearances will promote the show and to plead for adoption of the proposed Substance Abuse Treatment Parity Act. To that end, they will also be addressing Congress in Washington next week.

"I think the new series on PBS will really take off, and I hope that everyone in Bermuda will watch it,'' said Mrs. Moyers. "It really is very powerful stuff!'' For full story see Living on Page 25 DRUGS DGS
