Discovery Cove, an interactive haven designed to encourage children to explore and discover, is located in the old Galapagos Tortoise Exhibit.

The cove features a music hut, voice tube, stepping stones, waterfall and numerous sensory activities.

For those who enjoy getting their hands dirty there is also a fossil dig.

Meanwhile, the Coastal Walkway provides a tranquil stroll between the Australasia and Reptile Exhibits along with a breathtaking view of Harrington Sound. It is set to become home for the facility's pair of Bennett's Wallabies.

And the Caribbean Exhibit is scheduled to open next summer behind the present Flamingo pond.

Visitors will traverse a tropical walkway through a vast flight cage featuring mammals like the Brazilian Agouti, flying birds like the Scarlet Ibis and various reptiles including the Cayman Island Blue Iguana and South American Red Footed Tortoises.

BAMZ Principal Curator Jack Ward said: "We're very pleased with the positive response we've received to our new features and are looking forward to the Caribbean Exhibit taking shape in coming months.''
