Overseas artists get back to nature
produce a show entitled Nature's Palette.
Bermudian Jodie Tucker studied at Whitney Institute, Bournville Art School in England, and the Rhode Island School of Design. She has exhibited in Bermuda and England, and her work is in private collections in Europe, America and Bermuda.
She also illustrated the children's book, `Fish Tales', written by her friend Debbie Jones.
Ms Tucker's `Bay Grape Leaf Series 2000-2001' uses pastels with water colours, and recalls the wonderful changing colours of the leaves she witnessed as a child growing up near Hungry Bay.
Lynn Baker was an art major at the University of Texas, and has been working on her fern designs for ten years. The mother of four has worked in design and colour consultation. Her daughter Blake, and son-in-law Jack Collier reside in Bermuda. This is her first local exhibition.
Charles Anderson, whose mother is Bermudian, grew up in England. His education included the Lincoln College of Art and North East London Polytechnic, where he gained his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Hons) degree. After studying painting and sculpture, he turned to film making as his main subject, and after graduation chose photography as his career. He currently works as a commercial photographer. This is his debut exhibition.
Elaine White, the wife of Charles Anderson, studied art at Epsom School of Art and Design, and graphics at the London College of Printing. Her 14-year career in client liaison and administration at one of London's top photographic and retouching studios eventually led to directorship of the company. It is also where she met her husband in 1988.
The couple eventually gave up the London ratrace for a life of travel, but not before renovating their home to sell, during which Mrs. White's skills in decorative paint finishes and tile mosaics was formed.
Since moving to Bermuda, she has been inspired to work in a larger format, and has produced floor canvases for this, her first show.
Nature's Palette continues at the Burnaby Gallery until April 24. For further information telephone 292-8614.
