Marine and Ports director Ron Ross said Patience was damaged by the stern of the massive carrier on Sunday.
The cost of the damage was not known yesterday but Patience is the second Marine and Ports vessel in a week to have problems.
Sea Venture last week ran out of gas while laden with passengers in Hamilton Harbour while Deliverance has been out of service due to engine problems, but is expected back in about ten days.
