Pizza's ancient roots
a joke, think again -- the first pizzas were probably made in the Stone Age.
But they would have looked a little different from the pies that are now delivered to your home.
Neolithic people made a crude batter with wild grains and cooked it on hot flat stones after kneading it into a flat shape first.
The recipe that Four Star Pizza owner Mr. Maurico Thomas and his employees use today is a little more modernised than grains and a flat stone. It is also more Bermudianised.
Four Star Pizza is not only noted for its delivery service but also the uniqueness of the pizza style.
Mr. Thomas said American pizza is gummy because they use pure Mozzarella.
His cheese is made from a secret combination of cheese. He believes that it makes his pizza easier to swallow and better tasting.
Everything from the balls of dough to the amount of mushrooms on the pizza is carefully weighed.
After the dough is mixed in a giant mixer, it is "docked'' with a special roller. Then the dough is "slapped'' to give it the shape.
This is the stage when you see the Italian baker spinning it in the air in the movies. Sauce and topping are added. Then, to the tune of "That's Amore'', the dough is put on a roller which travels horizontally through the oven for a minute per inch of pizza.
Among the most famous pizza makers at Four Star Pizza branch were former Governor Sir Desmond Langley and his wife. Occasional customers to the pizza place, when Sir Desmond opened the second Four Star Pizza in Flatts he and his wife donned aprons to cook the first pizzas.
