This year's theme is: Nurturing Family Growth: Planting the Seeds for Future Generations.

Child abuse is a complex problem with a multitude of causes. Many children in Bermuda are at risk of physical, sexual, emotional abuse, and neglect. They are likely to experience health and developmental problems in childhood which can lead to behavioural, educational and emotional problems in later adolescence and adulthood. Preventing child abuse before it occurs requires a collaborative approach between government and community organisations.

All organisations, which are involved with children and families, are being asked to recognise this month by identifying a particular activity or providing information to your clientele, which will promote and strengthen the family.

Prevention of child abuse can take many forms, including support to new parents, parent information and education, and mentoring high risk children.

Play your part to ensure that all children in our community are safe as well as physically and emotionally healthy. Nurturing families will ensure that the adults of tomorrow are healthy, productive and well-adjusted.
