PTB says sorry
senior bus official issued an apology.
Last Monday, Public Transportation Board officials wrote to Mr. Saliunas to "apologise for any inconvenience this misunderstanding may have inadvertently caused''.
Last Saturday, The Royal Gazette reported an incident on May 25 between Mr.
Saliunas and a supervisor after a bus was waved on without him.
Mr. Saliunas said he repeatedly asked the man for a reason and for his name or a supervisor's name, "but he just walked away''.
The recent arrival to Bermuda said that after pressing the man further, the bus supervisor became "aggressive''.
"He began pointing his finger into my face,'' he said, "his threats followed: `You better get out of my face', continuing to point a finger in my face.'' Mr. Saliunas said he wanted a written apology from the driver.
Last week director Herman Baisden agreed Mr. Saliunas' and the supervisor's stories were "substantially'' the same, adding: "He will get a written response as soon as we can get to it.'' "I'm not really satisfied,'' Mr. Saliunas said yesterday."If I do something and my company apologises for my actions I may not have changed. We are never going to see eye to eye on this.'' Mr. Saliunas repeated that the same way he was expected to make a written complaint, "the driver should do the same''.
