Reefs a top tourist attraction
and Watersports enables thousands of tourists and locals to experience the Island's beautiful seas and reefs.
During the summer they receive about 600-800 clients each week at their three facilities: Somerset Bridge, Elbow Beach and Marriott.
They offer a variety of water sport activities such as snorkling, kayaks, aqua cycles, boogie boards, tubing, sailing and electric powered boats.
You can skim the waves on a jet ski. In fact you can do the jet ski snorkle safari and see historic St. George's forts and secluded reefs.
Blue Water Divers is the only Bermuda dive shop offering year round diving on 18 of the best wrecks and reefs with a wreck dive certificate programme.
Very popular is the single tank guided dive from Elbow Beach with the underwater scooter where one can explore caves and the wreck of Pollockshields.
"There are about 25-30 wreck sites around our Islands such as Hermes off South Shore, Cristobal Colon off the North.'' The questions most tourists ask the Captain and staff are: Where can we find the best local food? Are we in the Bermuda Triangle? Are you native to the Island? How many wrecks are there in Bermuda? How do I get to live here? Suggestions for Tourism were: Extend our fall and by promoting it as prime time for tourists.
Have cruise ships here on the weekends to help businesses.
Tourism is doing a good job attracting the UK and European clients but need to work with British Airways to get the airfares down to be in line with other holiday destinations.
