Ross (Blackie) Talbot.
Mr. Talbot said he was concerned the article, in the Lifestyle section, gave the impression to his many friends and acquaintances that he had passed.
"Yes, I was concerned, especially with the Internet,'' Mr. Talbot said from his home.
"I'm still alive, I want everyone to know that. My friends from as far away as Hawaii are concerned. If they don't get the paper they read it on the Internet.'' In a feature on Monday, freelance reporter Tim Lee wrote that Ross Talbot was the last surviving member of the legendary singing and musical group.
And while Roy would not give his age -- only saying being alive is important to "old fellows like me'' -- he said Ross only joined the group around the beginning of the Second World War.
"I was in the original group,'' he said. "I was the youngest of the first four in the Talbot Brothers. Ross came in when the war started.''
