Secrets of Christiane's success: Who raises the money
will never forget you. Not only does she keep a record of who pledged what in any given year, but also she calls be back the next year to ask you to pledge again -- and up your ante! And don't even think about "Promises, promises...'' for Mrs. Bosson doesn't let those slide either. One day she met a lady on the street who asked her if she was doing the walk. On hearing that she was, the lady promised to bring her a cheque. When time passed and nothing was forthcoming, Mrs. Bosson picked up the telephone and asked the would-be donor where it was! "I am very agressive, you have to be,'' she said.
In fact, it is Mrs. Bosson's enthusiasm for raising money for charities that has driven her to enter the End to End walk for the past seven years.
"The atmosphere on the day and on the training walks, plus everything else, is so wonderful I can't see myself missing a walk. Even after the first year, when I was really in pain with so many blisters and I had lost all my toenails, I still knew I'd come back again. I can't miss it. I have to do it,'' she said.
Which is excellent news for future End to Ends, because this year the French-born exempted company executive assistant scooped the President's Choice award for the individual raising the most money -- $5,763.00 to be precise -- and has a beautiful plaque to prove it.
"I really like raising money for charities,'' she says.
