skills or acquiring a new hobby, the Bermuda College's Continuing Education fall semester offers a wide variety of classes to suit all tastes.
Everything from finance to child care classes, word processing to introductory yoga is being offered this year.
Anyone interested in signing-up for a course should be aware that the `walk-in' registration deadline is this Friday, August 21. Registration hours for tomorrow and Thursday are from 9 to 7 p.m. and from 9 to 6 p.m. on Friday.
For those who can't make it to the Stonington Campus this week, late registration will take place from August 24 to 28. Registration closes at 4.30 p.m. on August 28. There will be a late registration fee of $25.
*** The Bermuda Bonsai Club will hold its first annual Bonsai Exhibit at City Hall next week.
The free show will be held in the Bermuda Society of Arts Gallery from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. August 28 and 29.
The Bermuda Bonsai Club's Norville Wright said the exhibit will feature a variety of trees crafted by club members.
And he said that anyone interested in joining the club will be able to pick up an application at the exhibit.
*** An upcoming East End art show will be a family affair -- involving two craftsmen well-known in the local art community and two up-and-coming novice artists.
The Four Cousins from St. George's Art Show will feature the sculptures, enamels and photographs by E. Michael Jones -- designer of this year's telephone book cover -- and photographs by The Royal Gazette's sports reporter Lawrence Trott.
Rose-Pat Smith-Douglas will showcase her acrylics while eight-year-old Garina Tucker will display her enamels and acrylics. Mrs. Smith-Douglas and Miss Tucker are currently taking classes with Manuel Palacio at the St. George's Community School.
The free art show will take place at the Ordnance Island Terminal in St.
George's on Friday, August 28 from 5.30 to 8.30 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 29 and Sunday, August 30.
