Simons to present seminar on captive insurance industry
Rochelle Simons, senior vice president of Aon Insurance Managers (Bermuda) Ltd, is presenting a seminar on captive insurance on April 24.
The Institute runs a series of seminars and talks on various aspects of insurance aimed at updating and informing those involved in Bermuda's insurance industry. The Island is one of the largest captive insurance centres in the world with around 1,500 captives currently registered here.
Ms Simons will discuss the types of captives that have been constructed and how they operate. She will also look at why risk managers in large corporations or public institutions decide to form captives.
The various domiciles around the world that have legislation for forming captives will be discussed, with an analysis of why people would choose Bermuda as their captive domicile. She will also explain how a captive is incorporated in Bermuda.
Ms Simons joined Aon Insurance Managers in 1998 as senior vice president responsible for business development and insurance services. She has more than 19 years experience in the captive insurance industry and prior to joining Aon she worked at Johnson and Higgins for eleven years.
She studied marketing and economics at St. Mary's University in Halifax where she earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree. The seminar is at the Bermuda Insurance Institute on Cedar Avenue from 8.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. Anyone wishing to attend the seminar should contact the Institute on 295-1596.
