According to marketing director of Phoenix Stores Ltd., Pauline Girling, the idea behind the event is more than just a celebration of recently-completed renovations at the South Road, Smith's Parish apothecary, it's also a way to say thankyou to the community. "Collector's Hill Apothecary could not exist in its present state without the support of the many families that have made the store such an essential part of the local community,'' she said. "So, as a gesture of our support for family values, we are donating a percentage of our sales during the two day event to a local children's home.'' The Apothecary is the second store in the PSL group to undergo extensive renovations. Less than a year ago the flagship of the BDC Ltd. chain, the Phoenix Centre on Reid Street in Hamilton, was completely refitted. As a means of expressing its gratitude to its customers, the Apothecary will offer a varied range of entertainment and product promotions. Said Barry Jones, manager of the store and also its chief pharmacist: "I am always ready to provide advice and guidance on health or prescription concerns that our customers may have. Our dispensing service is fast and friendly. We strive to be family oriented. All of our sales associates serve the customers in a cordial manner and many staff have been employed for several years.'' Beginning tomorrow, a number of popular products will be offered as `two for the price of one.' Also, a Family Values Day will be held for the Island's senior citizens, enabling them a ten percent discount on purchases, and refreshments will be available all morning between 9:30 a.m.

and 11 a.m. The Smith's Parish Community Nurses will be on hand in the morning to discuss health care concerns and blood pressure testing will also be available. The Department of Health's nutritionist, Betsy Baillie, will answer any nutritional questions from 2.30 p.m. to 4 p.m. and an asthma clinic, provided by the Nurses Practice, will offer advice or address the concerns of those in need. Afternoon visitors to the Apothecary will be entertained by the Saltus Grammar School Brass Quintet, under the direction of music teacher, Lisa Maule. Shoppers may enjoy the sounds of Edward Blakely on 1st trumpet, Hannah Harrison on 2nd trumpet, Alex Lines on the French horn, Nick Webster on trombone and Machel Charles on tuba between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. A cake-cutting ceremony in honour of the store's re-opening is also planned at that time with refreshments for all. Saturday celebrates Family Fun Day with events broadcasted from the Apothecary live with the help of "the Captain'', Keevil Burgess. Mr. Burgess is to host his morning show on location, sharing the day's celebrations with all of Bermuda. A 10.30 a.m. ribbon cutting by John Gibson Young, past chairman of BDC Ltd., will officially open the store.

Following is a full day of activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Saltus Grammar School Jazz Band, is to perform immediately after the opening ceremonies at the entrance to the store. The band will feature the music of Edward Blakely, Hannah Harrison and Alexis Williams on trumpets. George Spurling will play on the saxophone, Geoff Law and Jason Boorman on the alto saxophone, Andrew Laing on the tenor saxophone and Bryen Hill on the baritone saxophone. The telants of Ryan Marshall and Adrian Kawaley-Lolthan will be A day of fun for the family Nick Webster.

Throughout the day, face painting and balloons will be available for the children while a Revlon beautician will be providing skin care advice and makeovers for ladies. And, with the purchase of any Revlon nail product, complementary manicures will be offered.

Janet "Queenie'' Abraham, one of the Island's professional kite makers, will give instruction on how to make kites between 2.00 p.m. and 3.30 p.m.

And the Apex Four, a singing quartet specialising in gospel music, will finish off the two day celebrations with a performance between 3.15 p.m. and 4 p.m.
