The hospice for the terminally ill is one of three charities taking part in the event starting at 7:30 p.m. on ZFB.

Spokeswoman for the friends of Agape House, Mrs. Evelyn James Barnett yesterday added another portion of the funds will be earmarked for a chapel at the hospice.

Hosted by the Bermuda Broadcasting Company Ltd, the telethon aims to raise funds jointly for Agape House, His House -- a privately owned, Christian-based drug rehabilitation home for men and the Allen Vincent Smith Foundation that offers support for AIDS victims and information on the disease.

Mr. Keevil "the Captain'' Burgess, a Power 95 FM radio personality and local performer Ms Gita Blakeney are hosting the event, expected to last four hours.

And local entertainers, recently showcased in Gina Spence Productions' Black History Celebration and Variety Show at Number 6 Shed will also perform.

Viewers are encouraged to call in their pledges live this evening by dialing 295-2828.
