US charity to aid aquarium
Aquarium in Flatts.
Friends of Bermuda Aquarium, Ltd. is a non-profit charity operating out of Maryland.
Aims of the organisation include promoting staff exchange programmes between the Aquarium and similar facilities in the US, the exchange of exhibits, student intern courses and research projects.
The charity will assist the Aquarium's mission "to inspire an interest in the environment and in the waters east and south of the US, through education''.
American visitors to the Aquarium will be invited to join the charity. Members will receive a quarterly newsletter containing information about the facility and environmental issues.
At the first meeting of the Board of Directors, six officers and directors were elected, including locals Mr. Richard J. Winchell and Mr. Charles R.
Gosling.
