Mr. Wilson will present his one-man show on the life of Mark Twain for the Jabulani Repertory Company at the Princess Hotel for four nights, September 11 through 14.

After spending two hours in make-up, with top portrait artist Diana Tetlow, Mr. Wilson will arrive onstage transformed into what can only be described as the spitting image of the legend.

Ms Tetlow uses foam latex, plaster of paris and adhesives to amazingly recreate Mark Twain.

Mr. Wilson said during `Reminiscences And Other Lies', his Mark Twain would be dispensing advise to youths, recount his adventures on horseback and tell the audience about a tramp in Hartford.

Tobacco, lawyers, the frailty of man and Satan will also be the basis for some of the stories Mr. Wilson -- under the direction of Elsbeth Gibson -- will discuss.

He said material from the performance came from a variety of Mark Twain's novels, essays and letters. And he added that he dedicated himself to capturing the voice and mannerisms of the novelist.

"Mark Twain is known for his ability to tap into human nature,'' Mr. Wilson said. "People will laugh at jokes and comments that are almost 100 years old.'' Wilson as Twain Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, has been described as an American who captured and held the affection of a world-wide audience.

His works, read by millions around the world, include the classics Huckleberry Finn and The Adventures of Tom Sawyer.

"He hated sham, hypocrisy, prejudice, injustice and he fought against these things with laughter because `against the assault of laughter nothing can stand'.'' Mr. Wilson added: "He was a very wise dude, but very funny as well. Maybe that's why I love this.'' Mark Twain had a long standing relationship with Bermuda ever since his first trip to the island in November 1867 on board the S.S. Quaker City . He paid many visits to Bermuda up until his death in 1910.

And Mr. Wilson will recount one of Mark Twain's Bermudian experiences during `Reminiscences And Other Lies'.

Mr. Wilson, who is no stranger to Bermuda's theatrical circles, studied drama at Adelphi University in New York before pursuing a career in broadcasting.

This broadcasting pursuit, ultimately led him to start Bermuda Cablevision Ltd.

Over the years he has performed and directed numerous local productions, including 1992's critically acclaimed Bermuda Gilbert & Sullivan Society's musical Annie and the 1994 thriller A Business Of Murder.

Tickets for the show -- doors open at 9.15 p.m. -- are available from The Princess, 235-3000.
