Young AME group holds meeting

hosting the First District Young People's Division Conference at St. Paul's AME Centennial Hall from tomorrow through Sunday.

The theme for the conference is "YPDers Call to Action in the 21st Century'' and Presiding Elder the Rev. Malcolm Eve and Mrs. Evadne Paynter will lead the conference.

More than 300 young people representing Bermuda, New England, Philadelphia, Delaware and New York are anticipated to register for the business sessions, workshops, Bible study and worship services to be held during the weekend.

The Young People's Division is a world wide youth organisation which grew out of the Women's Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.

The group is devoted to providing meaningful youth training programmes in all areas of church life and providing opportunities for leadership experience for young people between the ages of seven and 26 years.

A welcome service, featuring the combined Bermuda Conference Youth Choir, will be held tomorrow. And on Friday, Mr. Jermaine Tucker will preside over the opening service with Evangelist Sis. Judith Gardner from St. Paul's AME Church as the guest speaker.

On Saturday, business sessions will be held and that evening local talent will be showcased at St. Paul's Centennial Hall at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door. The public is also welcomed to attend the conference. Registration for the three-day event is $15 per person.
