90-minute set to span her brilliant career

Bermudian Heather Nova's appearance in the Bermuda Festival comes on the heels of another European tour and the release of her latest album, 'The Jasmine Flower'.

Born Heather Frith, her rise to fame in Europe is well documented, and fans everywhere flock to see her perform in solo concerts.

Ms Nova's early introduction to music came via a tape deck carried on her parents' yacht as the family, including two siblings, a dog and a cat, sailed around the Caribbean.

She credits the artists she was introduced to during those voyages, including Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Simon and Garfunkel, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones as early influences.

Her formal musical training began with the violin at the age of 10. At 13, she moved on to the guitar, and songwriting then followed.

A former student at the Rhode Island School of Design, Ms Nova moved to London in 1990 and made her first recording, 'heather frith' with Big Cat records.

In 1995, a track from her breakthrough album, 'Walk this World', received significant airplay around the world, and other albums followed.

Her fame grew, particularly in Europe, and she toured extensively, with some of her songs becoming hits.

For the first time since her Millennium concert in Dockyard, Ms Nova has brought her full band to Bermuda for tonight's rock show, which recently played to sold-out audiences across Europe. They will play a 90-minute set of material taken from her seven albums, which span a 17-year career in the music industry. Selections will include well-known hits as 'Walk This World', 'Like Lovers Do', and 'London Rain', as well as new material from her latest album.

The venue is the Fairmont Southampton resort's Mid-Ocean Amphitheatre, and curtain time is 8 p.m.For tickets and further information visit www.bermudafestival.org.
