Alison Hinds amazes at Snorkel Park
Get ready to wine! Get ready to wine! Follow my ding, ding, ding... and the crowd goes wild.
Anyone who's a soca fan knows that song, Faluma, and anyone who's an Alison Hinds fan, knows all the words.
The undisputed Queen of Soca took the stage at Snorkel Park Saturday night and did what she does best — sing amazing songs, get the crowd jumping and wine her bumpa better than every girl in the audience.
Ms Hinds last performed in Bermuda July 2005 down at Clearwater with Rupee.
I remember that show like it was yesterday because it was absolutely amazing.
Between the two of them, they had the crowd jumping, waving, and wining. So with that show in the back of my mind, my expectations were super high. And true to form, Ms Hinds did not disappoint.
Stepping on stage close to 1 a.m., the queen wore tight dark jeans accentuating her infamous bottom, a turquoise and black corset with turquoise arm bands and sky-high turquoise gladiator stilettoes.
She sang old songs, new songs and even did a tribute to the late Michael Jackson singing a few lines of 'Rock With You'.
Ms Hinds took the stage with her high energy levels wining, and wining and wining.
Even after having a child, she still has it.
At one point in the night, she debuted a new song called 'Chocolate and Vanilla" where she explained she is a caramel, toffee flavoured girl.
She said the song is about the different flavours of women that men can choose from.
Then she called up to the stage a vanilla girl, a chocolate girl and a caramel girl.
Before she could get the question out of her mouth to ask a man to join them, Eugene Ball Jr. had already jumped on to the stage ready for a 15 minutes of fame.
But I have to give it to him. He held his own as the three girl wined on him. And then, he gave it to Ms Hinds by proving he could keep up with her notorious wining.
Ms Hinds continued to entertain the audience with 'Soca in My Body', 'Obsessive Winer', 'Roll It Gal', my personal favourite, 'Again', 'Gimme De Juk Juk' and so many more songs.
She is truly amazing and deserves the Queen of Soca crown.
Before she got on stage, the audience was entertained by my favourite soca DJ, D'General who took it back a bit with the soca then brought it right back to 2009.
Rusty G also played some good music spinning from soca to reggae so effortlessly. And Young Gunz spun a few songs as well.
But overall, it was an amazing night of non-stop jumping, wining and waving.
I can't wait for carnival!
