Spanish flavour.

The Jackson School of Arts is putting on a dance recital at the City Hall theatre.

And one of the highlights will be a Spanish ballet choreographed by Ms Heather Shrubb and Ms Jean Legere.

There will also be a ballet choreographed by Ms Conchita Ming, and jazz and tap pieces choreographed by Ms Barbara Frith.

In addition, there will be performances by the junior students.

Mrs. Louise Jackson, from the Jackson School, said the recital would be "very exciting''.

It would be performed on June 25, 27, 28, 29 and July 1 and 2.

Tickets are being sold at the Jackson School's office on Burnaby Street between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Mrs. Jackson said the school -- which teaches dance, drama, music, and gymnastics -- had been a huge influence in Bermuda since opening 41 years ago.

This was particularly true in the last 20 years when membership had topped 1,000.

Mrs. Jackson said the school had had a "profound'' influence on local culture, producing dancers, teachers, choreographers, musicians, actors and actresses.

"The best part of the school is it offers a complete art education under one roof,'' she added.

She pointed out the school boasted three dance studios, four music studios, offices, a waiting room, and rooms for students to study and do their homework in between classes.

The school held a "wonderful'' summer programme, offering more than just dance, Mrs. Jackson stressed.

This summer's programme would end with a production of Aladdin, headed by dance teacher Barbara Frith and the head of the music department, Doug Frith, Mrs. Jackson added. There would also be a junior programme for children aged five to seven.
