Debbie's a real angel
been rewarded for her efforts.
Debbie Kay Martin, who works for the Department of Immigration, came to the rescue of Canadian visitor Lysandra Karamitsou, who suffered problems on her trip to the Island.
Mrs. Martin gave Ms Karamitsou a loan of clothes from a friend's shop during her stay at Elbow Beach after overhearing her plight. The visitor was in Bermuda for a wedding and all her luggage was lost.
The kind-hearted lady returned with a parcel of clothes and other items, and would not accept any money from the Canadian.
Ms Karamitsou had flown to Bermuda via Spain, and had missed the London flight while waiting for her belongings. She eventually came via New York but had none of her clothes while she was here.
"In all my travels I have never met such a kind-hearted and sympathetic person,'' she said.
Mrs. Martin was presented with the Visitor Industry Partnership second quarter Sunshine Award by Tourism Minister David Allen at a lunch this week.
She also received a 14 carat gold pin and a two-night stay at a local hotel.
